DSAB 625 - Grantwriting for Disability Programs (3 Credits)

Prerequisite: DSAB 601   or departmental permission for MS Students
Grant writing and program development is a skill that is necessary to enhancing and developing disability programs in nonprofit service organizations or disability access offices. In addition to federal or state funding, programs can enhance services significantly through grant writing. This course will explore the concepts of “hard” and “soft” money, how to find outside funding, what the typical pieces of a proposal are and how to design successful applications. Various types of grants, such as local, state, federal and private foundations will be identified and students will be introduced to grant makers databases. Students will learn to translate program needs found in research with RFPs and calls for projects. Students will develop a full proposal from start to finish.
